Pyxis Ethics Advisory began as a result of a research done in affiliation with the Regina Apostolorum Athenaeum in Rome in 2005. It is now a free-standing international institute, operating in conjunction with affiliated institutes at various institutions and universities in the USA, Mexico, Chile, Spain and Italy.

The Regina Apostolorum Athenaeuman was founded in 1993 with the mission of providing education ordered toward Christian leadership and promoting research aimed at imbuing society with the spirit of Christ. The athenaeum at present consists of three faculties: Philosophy, Theology, and Bioethics. It grants bachelors, licentiate (masters), and doctoral degrees in each.
